WHY VISIT
Nampo & Gwangbok Underground Shopping Centers were established in the early 1980s and have since become key commercial hubs in the area. Located near Nampo Station and Jagalchi Station, two of Busan's major transit points, they have grown thanks to high foot traffic and vibrant local business districts. At one time, it was no exaggeration to say that every young person in Busan passed through these underground shopping centers. Once the heart of the city’s fashion scene, they were packed with trendy clothing stores and bustling with crowds of shoppers. Often called the “underground Myeong-dong,” they were the go-to spots for the latest styles and stood as cultural icons for Busan’s youth. Although the cultural spotlight has shifted to newer areas like Haeundae and Gwangalli, and their former glory has somewhat faded, these underground shopping centers remain nostalgic for the older generation, serving like time machines filled with familiarity and warmth. Rich with stories from the past, they continue to be a part of everyday life for the people of Busan.
