The word “Ibagu” in Choryang Ibagu-gil means 'story' in the Busan dialect—and this hillside trail truly lives up to its name. Overlooking Busan Port, the path took shape when refugees from across the country settled here during the Korean War. Even today, traces of their lives remain in the old houses and winding alleyways that hold the spirit of the past. <br> One of the best-known spots along the trail, the 168 Stairs, was once part of the refugees’ daily climb. Now equipped with a monorail, it offers a fun and memorable way to experience the hillside. At the Ibagu Crafts Workshop, old photos and everyday objects from local residents bring Choryang’s past to life. The Wall Gallery and Mural Street add a creative touch, where the charm of old alleyways meets a modern artistic vibe. <br> From the observatory halfway up the hill, you’ll find breathtaking views of Busan Port and the city spread out below. The trail is especially beautiful at sunset, when the harbor glows in shades of gold and orange.
