WHY VISIT

Located at the entrance of Eungam-dong Potato Soup Street, this restaurant was the first to open on the street. Its name, “Taejo Daerim Gamjaguk,” was inspired by King Taejo of the Joseon Dynasty. While most people call the dish “Gamjatang,” restaurants in this area refer to it as “Gamjaguk” after the owner, Mr. Bae Ik-hoon, suggested using the term to encourage humility among neighboring restaurateurs. It is the only restaurant in the area open 24 hours a day, maintaining long-standing ties with early-morning regulars.
