WHY VISIT
Transcending makgeolli — Chowol is an urban brewery located between Mapo Station and Gongdeok Station. Chowol follows traditional brewing methods using only rice, nuruk, and water. It uses Haenam rice, grown in Korea’s southernmost tip where fertile plains meet sea breezes. Through makgeolli, Chowol connects past and present, and bridges the rural and the urban.
