Gesture Beyond the Canvas Exhibition

Superior Gallery has curated the exhibition 《Gesture Beyond the Canvas》 for July 2025. This exhibition demonstrates how brushstrokes, the fundamental element of painting, can function as a creative language with the power to lead artistic innovation, rather than merely being simple techniques or traces. The 《Gesture Beyond the Canvas》 exhibition focuses on the experimental spirit and creative acts of three artists who break away from the conventional framework, where traditional brushstrokes remain confined to reproduction, and attempt new expressions and reinterpret nature. Artists Kwon Jae-na, Lee Chae, and Choi Je-i each convey their artistic philosophy through their works, employing different perspectives and original brushwork. In the 《Gesture Beyond the Canvas》 exhibition, we can see how the brushstrokes of these three artists do not simply remain within the canvas but extend to nature, life, and inner emotions. We anticipate that this exhibition will open new horizons in art, where the original brushwork and artistic challenges of artists Kwon Jae-na, Lee Chae, and Choi Je-i transcend the traditional painting framework, presenting new perspectives and sensations.
