WHY VISIT

This landmark exhibition celebrates 60 years of normalized diplomatic relations between Korea and Japan and the 80th anniversary of Korea’s liberation. It serves as a meaningful moment to reflect on the Korea-Japan relationship. While Japan remains Korea’s closest neighbor, many unresolved issues still hinder deeper cooperation. The more we reflect on the past and examine the present, the better we can prepare for a new turning point. 'Bonds of the Heart, Waves of Resonance' explores the essence of trust and exchange—between nations and between individuals—through the story of the Tongsinsa, the diplomatic missions of the Joseon Dynasty. While Tongsinsa refers to formal diplomatic delegations and systems, their deeper significance goes beyond diplomacy and cultural exchange. These missions were based on mutual respect, trust, and understanding, fostering friendship between nations and bonds between people. History is not merely a record of the past—it is a force that connects the present and future. Through this historical legacy of Tongsinsa, which bridges state and individual, diplomacy and culture, past and present, this exhibition reflects on the meaning of "diplomacy based on trust" and encourages us to envision a peaceful future together.
