WHY VISIT
Since Korea’s liberation, the Buk-Seoul (northern Seoul) area has undergone rapid transformation through urbanization. It became a settlement area for those pushed out from central Seoul and later saw the rise of factories along Jungnangcheon during the period of industrialization. As housing developments were introduced to accommodate the growing population, the area turned into a large apartment district. More recently, various cultural facilities have been established to enhance civic access to the arts, adding more diversity to the urban landscape. As a major cultural institution in northern Seoul, the Seoul Museum of Urban Life presents this exhibition to explore the changing cityscape of Buk-Seoul and the evolving lives of the people who have lived there.
