WHY VISIT
Japanese-British artist Christian Hidaka presents a compelling experience by blending the painting traditions and techniques of East and West. Based on his unique perspective, the exhibition introduces a new visual language that bridges cultural and geographical heritages, creating a vivid and immersive painterly composition. The exhibition includes large-scale murals and showcases Hidaka’s distinctive experiments in painting, rarely seen until now. Notably, the artist integrates Western linear perspective and Eastern three-distance perspective, as well as Renaissance tempera and traditional Asian pigments like seokcheong, all made from natural materials. Through this harmony of East and West, nature and art are brought together on a single canvas. This exhibition aims not only to explore a practical approach to painting for the next generation but also to offer a moment to rediscover our presence and perception of the world. By stepping beyond the square boundaries of a canvas into a nonlinear chronology of imagination, visitors are invited to open the door to a visionary world reminiscent of ancient cave murals.
