WHY VISIT
The SeMA Museum of Photography, newly opened in Changdong, Dobong-gu, Seoul, is a branch of the Seoul Museum of Art and the first and only public art museum in Korea specializing in photography, established after more than a decade of preparation. The museum plans to continue diverse activities to become a new center for photographic art in Korea and Asia through creative and experimental exhibitions and programs encompassing the entire photography culture and in-depth research, collection, and preservation activities. Notably, the museum is equipped with facilities where visitors can experience the influence and artistic value of photography, including exhibition halls, education rooms, darkrooms, a photo library, and a photobook café for educational programs covering all age groups. The architecture was designed by Austrian architect Mladen Jadric (representative of Jadric Architektur ZTGmbH) and 1990 Urban Architecture (representative Yoon Geun-ju), who visualized and implemented the pixel of photography, which is a picture drawn with light.
