WHY VISIT
Where you can directly encounter original paintings by European masters such as Rembrandt, Goya, Jacques-Louis David, and Turner, will be held at the ALT.1 Museum in The Hyundai Seoul from March 21 to July 4, 2026. This exhibition is a large-scale classic painting exhibition that carefully selects and presents over 50 paintings by masters who led the flow of Western art history from the mid-16th century to the mid-19th century, among the representative collections of the Toledo Museum of Art located in Ohio, USA. You can observe in one place the works that formed major turning points in the history of European painting, from the post-Renaissance period to Baroque, Rococo, Neoclassicism, and Romanticism. The exhibition is composed of a total of 6 sections, structured so that visitors can also examine the social and cultural roles that painting has played within the history of European art. Visitors can broadly experience not only the pictorial perfection of the works but also the historical background, philosophical context, patronage structures, and the flow of the art market contained within them. This exhibition, which introduces the European painting collection of the Toledo Museum of Art with a history of over 100 years to Korea, is expected to be a special opportunity to directly verify the flow of Western art history and the artistic achievements of the masters as a blockbuster exhibition centered on original paintings.
