WHY VISIT
Stars are not abstract symbols in the distant sky, they are the very spot where I stand, breathing and living in the present moment. The small tremors and deep immersion we experience in everyday life create a resonance of consciousness, within which a universe, a world, emerges. This exhibition is a condensation of moments deepened and contemplated in prolonged silence and stillness. Time spent alone, detached from relationships, reflects the paths I have walked and the traces of pauses I have taken, while simultaneously serving as a gateway to another world. Within the context of traditional calligraphy, I evoke the primal forms and energies of ancient scripts, especially oracle bone characters, and reconstruct them with Hangul’s formal possibilities through a contemporary sensibility. The characters go beyond mere tools for communication; they manifest as traces of existence and as visual sculptural forms. Letters that breathe like living hearts engrave a pulse into each stroke, leaving trajectories that pierce through time. “Here, Standing on a Star” does not refer to any particular star. It is the “here” where I stand, the moments of now. The characters that bloom in this space transcend personal records and explore how humans perceive and sense the world. I hope this exhibition becomes, for visitors, another star and a pathway to their inner selves. Along this journey, I envision embracing even severed relationships without fear, and standing as a radiant being in one’s own right.
