Joke: Spreading from Me, Passing to You is a three-artist exhibition by Lee Jeong-hee, Lee Fero, and Joo Yoo-jin, which was curated with a focus on the multiple meanings of "농담" (pronounced "nongdam" in Korean). The exhibition encompasses both the notion of a small gesture or playful act intended to make someone feel good and the concept describing the degree of lightness and darkness in color and shading in art. This exhibition is divided into three spaces: "Spreading Deeply," "Gently Passing By," and "Anticipating a Smile." In the first part, "Spreading Deeply," artists Lee Jeong-hee and Joo Yoo-jin explore their personal solitude. With various shades of blue accumulating, Lee Jeong-hee reflects on her solitude in the paradise of Arcadia, where despair coexists. Joo Yoo-jin expresses her contemplation of her solitude through the color blue. In the second part, "Gently Passing By," you can encounter the works of artists Lee Jeong-hee and Lee Fero. Lee Fero's distinctive approach involves delicately drawing desserts and then pushing them away with swift strokes to reshape their forms. In her works, the subjects become distorted, and the original shapes are briefly touched upon and then become ambiguous, much like the concept of "swipe to unlock" on a mobile phone. It reveals hidden elements, and paradoxically, the intention to reveal becomes clearer, according to the artist. Finally, in the innermost section, "Anticipating a Smile," artist Joo Yoo-jin creates a small garden. In this bright and colorful garden filled with blooming flowers, the artist positions someone other than themselves. Unlike the spread of their own loneliness through the blue light, they hope that the loneliness of others will not be lonely and that they will experience the spread of various colors.
