WHY VISIT

Gallery Planet will host a two-p e rson exhibition 《Crosswalk》 featuring artists Kim Jung-in and Cho Hyun-seo from August 8 to September 13, 2024. 《Crosswalk》 begins by examining the perspectives of two artists who set out from different directions, meet, and diverge at an intersection. Through Kim Jung-in's images, which actively reveal subjective judgments uniquely human through a mixture of internalized and externalized memories, and Cho Hyun-seo's works, which seek to define aesthetic taste through the judgments of trained artificial intelligence, we ultimately find ourselves contemplating the paintings of our current era. As the exhibition title 'Crosswalk' suggests (a place where paths cross or meet), following the viewpoints of the two artists standing at the intersection leads us to a time of selected memories that have become filters. We experience numerous moments of (un)conscious choices as internal and external memories mix, pass through external memory, and reappear before our eyes. Based on their unique qualities, reflecting innate senses and learned tastes, the artists technically preserve images in their own memory vessels. The divergent perspectives of the two artists, which this exhibition highlights, are revealed at this point.
