WHY VISIT
Opened in 2013, the Buk Seoul branch of the Seoul Museum of Art is the first and largest branch of the Seoul Museum of Art. As a contemporary art space representing northern Seoul, it is a cultural landmark where art and everyday life naturally meet. It was designed as a cultural communication space where the museum and park come together, and where people, nature, and art live and breathe in harmony. Reflecting the place name Nowon, which is derived from the meaning 'Reed Hill', the museum is located on a small hill that appears to bring the beautiful natural scenery of Suraksan and Bulamsan, once hidden behind apartment complexes, into the heart of the city. All exhibitions, except for special exhibitions, can be viewed free of charge, making it a beloved and accessible destination for tourists as well.
