WHY VISIT
The Gallery Art Zone is located on the 1st floor of MMCA and is about 570㎡ in size There are three zones and five gallery spaces. The Gallery Art Zone was borne out of a collaboration with the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art (MMCA) and Hyundai Motor Company. The Gallery Art Zone’s aim is to expand the breadth of audiences when it comes to art. Art shouldn’t just be for walls and showcases. The works on display in the Gallery Art Zone can be bought, and regular visitors can bring a piece of art or design home. The Gallery Art Zone shows different aspects of Korean contemporary art and design in each zone. The first zone (Gallery 1) exhibits Korean design and sells works by promising artists, particularly those from the craft sector. The second zone (Galleries 2 and 3) exhibits and sells cultural products that were developed for MMCA, or on display at MMCA. The third zone (Galleries 4 and 5) displays and sells textiles, fashion products, and art books. Additionally, in part as a result of Hyundai Motor Company’s sponsorship, many art related events and special events will be held at the Gallery Art Zone.
