WHY VISIT
Yakhyeon Catholic Church was the first Western-style church ever built in Korea. Located in Jungnim-dong, the church can be seen from Seoullo 7017. Yakhyeon Catholic Church has historical significance as a religious site and its architecture was hugely influential on the architectural styles of other churches in Korea. The building was destroyed by fire in 1998 but it was subsequently restored.
