WHY VISIT
The Dongdaemun History Museum, operated under the Seoul Museum of History, reopened the doors to its permanent exhibition hall following the two-year renovation project on Tuesday, August 11, 2020. The entire, all-new remodeled interior floor is set with carvings and gobo projectors that capture the blueprint of the excavation site of historical remains by layer to emulate the historical, figurative layers that are stacked upon each other at this very geographical site. The exhibition is characterized into the following four different themes: I. Military Training Administration & Lower Directorate; II. City Wall Floodgates; III. Two Centuries of Change; and IV. Excavated History. There are also various, fun programs for children within the exhibition and hands-on space provided that feature sand-crafting, 3D photo zones, and more.
