Think Gugak is difficult to learn? Now it's easy and fun to learn at the Gugak Experience Hall, Busan National Gugak Center! The Gugak Experience Hall opened in October 2023. Unlike the Busan National Gugak Center, which focus mostly on performances, the Gugak Experience Hall offers various experiences and exhibitions that bring you closer to traditional Korean music. When you first enter the center, you’ll see the outdoor performance stage. This is where you can enjoy exciting Gugak performances, many of which are free. In addition to the outdoor stage, there is also an indoor performance hall that hosts a variety of shows. The first floor is an immersive media art room where you can enjoy the coolness of gugak through colorful gugak media art. The digital data exhibition room on the 1st and 2nd floors is a place where you can learn things you didn't know about gugak, and various archival materials are displayed to pique your curiosity. The immersive exhibition room on the second floor is a space where you can experience Korean musical instruments through digital devices, which is especially attractive to visitors with children. Right next door is a children's experience room where they can make paper art of the janggu, an hourglass-shaped Korean drum and the taepyeongso, or traditional wind instrument, which is a great way for them to experience Korean music. There are also plenty of resting areas throughout the center, so you can take a break after enjoying a performance or exhibition. The Gugak Experience Hall is located right in front of Busan Citizens Park, so it's a great place to end your day with a leisurely stroll in the park afterwards.
